Case Study: Hudson Ranch & Vineyards – Custom Organic Cotton Bandana Furoshiki

Client Overview

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Hudson Ranch & Vineyards is celebrated for its world-class wines, olive oil, and regenerative approach to farming. Founded by Lee Hudson, the ranch embodies craftsmanship, sustainability, and connection to the land — values that flow through everything from their vineyard practices to their thoughtfully designed products.

The Challenge

The Hudson Ranch team approached us with a clear vision: to transform their existing Hanko icon — a beloved design element originally created for their packaging — into a new textile format. They wanted something that felt both authentic to their brand and functional across contexts, whether as:

  • A fashion accessory worn by their team and guests,
  • A giftable item in their shop, or
  • A furoshiki wrap for smaller gifts and wine bottles.

The design direction was already rooted in their visual identity, but they needed expert guidance on textile sizing, material selection, and production quality to bring it to life.

Our Solution

Working directly with Tyler Lau, Head of Manufacturing at Keiko Furoshiki, Hudson Ranch shared their Hanko vector art and reference materials from past packaging. Our production team adapted the pattern into a seamless repeat suitable for printing on fabric, ensuring the artwork retained its signature look and balance at scale.

As the project developed, the vision evolved. Originally conceived as a wine wrap, the Hudson team saw its potential as a wearable bandana that could be styled and gifted. Together, we adjusted key production details to align with that new direction:

  • Size: Refined to 23.6 x 23.6 inches (60 x 60 cm) — perfect for wearing and wrapping small items.
  • Fabric: Switched to a lighter, softer organic cotton (65 gsm) for better drape and comfort.
  • Finish: Printed and sewn with precision to ensure a premium, boutique-quality product.

Throughout the process, Tyler worked closely with the Hudson team to fine-tune specifications, coordinate timelines, and navigate challenges — including tariff-related delays — while keeping everything on track and within budget.

The Result

The final product is a versatile organic cotton bandana furoshiki that beautifully bridges function and fashion. It reflects Hudson Ranch’s refined aesthetic and commitment to sustainability, while giving their team and customers a tangible, everyday way to carry a piece of the ranch with them.

In their own words:

“We had the absolute best experience creating our custom bandana furoshiki with Keiko and the team. We wanted a versatile piece that our team could wear proudly, offer for sale, and also use to wrap wine bottles for gifting — and the final product could not have turned out more perfectly. Tyler was exceptional to work with throughout the process: positive, kind, and endlessly accommodating... We’re over the moon with how the bandanas came out and are already working on creating our next one with them. We truly can’t recommend this team enough!”

Beyond the Bandana

Since launching, the Hudson Ranch furoshiki bandanas have become a staple at the winery — used by staff, sold in their shop, and celebrated online for their elegant design and versatility. You can see them in use on Hudson Ranch’s Instagram, styled in countless creative ways.

This project perfectly illustrates how heritage design and modern craftsmanship can come together through the furoshiki tradition — transforming an existing brand icon into something tactile, wearable, and meaningful.
