3 Ways to Tie a Furoshiki as a Scarf

Bright scarves are stealing the spotlight and making waves in the world of style. From the chic streets of Paris to the wild runways of Milan, scarves have been the ultimate fashion chameleons. But guess what? We're about to shake things up with a twist that's as cool as it is sustainable. Enter the furoshiki, that Japanese wonder known for its gift-wrapping game

What you may have received wrapped around a gift can also serve as a chic fashion accessory. In this post, we're sharing three ways to tie a furoshiki as a scarf. You'll quickly see why furoshiki scarves are about to become your new favorite accessory!

Scarf Style 1: The necktie

Here’s one way to tie your furoshiki into a necktie. This one is our White Tulip print.

  1. Lay your furoshiki on the table and rotate it so that it is a diamond shape and one corner is pointing at you.
  2. Take the corner in front of you and fold it slightly over the center of the furoshiki.
  3. Do the same with the opposite end and bring it closer to you.
  4. Bring each edge of the fold to the center to make the scarf narrower.
  5. Pick up one end and make a loose knot, leaving about 3 inches from the end of the scarf.
  6. Place it around the neck and thread the other end through the knot.
  7. Pull it and adjust for tightness.

Scarf Style 2: The side bow

Here’s one way to tie your furoshiki into a side bow. This one is our Pastel Tulips print.

  1. Lay your furoshiki on the table and fold it in half to make a triangle.
  2. Roll the furoshiki triangle from the pointy corner all the way to the bottom of the triangle to create one long tube.
  3. Place it around your neck and tie a square knot.
  4. Turn the furoshiki scarf so that the knot is over one shoulder.
  5. Pull it and adjust for tightness.

Scarf Style 1: The square knot

Here’s one way to tie your furoshiki into a symmetrical square bow. This one is our Zinnia Flower print.

  1. Spread your furoshiki on a table and make a diamond shape.
  2. Fold two opposing ends towards the center of the furoshiki. If you like a wide band around your neck, just fold it over once. If you like something more narrow, fold it a couple of times.
  3. Wrap it around your neck and leave one end longer than the other.
  4. Take the long end to make a square knot in front.
Keep in mind the wider the furoshiki, the larger the knot will be. Play around with proportions until you get the band and knot size you want.

Ready to turn heads and be the talk of the town? The furoshiki scarf is here to add a dash of fun, a splash of color, and a whole lot of eco-conscious flair to your wardrobe. Say goodbye to boring trends and hello to sustainability with a side of style. It's not just a scarf; it's a statement – a nod to the past, a high-five to the present, and a kickstart to a more vibrant, conscious fashion future. So, fashion rebels, let's wrap it up in the fabulous world of furoshiki scarves, where history meets haute couture with a playful twist!
